Hair Transplantation After Care
After you have completed your hair transplant, you will receive post- operative instructions, medicines and shampoo. You will also be provided with a baseball cap or bandana if you wish. You will leave the office with no bandage and will be able to shampoo your hair in two days.
In most patients normal activity resumes within a day or two. In small crusts, the transplants are placed and usually shed within 4 to 7 days. The small hairs in the newly transplanted grafts normally shed within 2 to 4 weeks after the procedure, and permanent hair growth usually begins in 8 to 12 weeks. You should expect significant cosmetic hair growth within 6 to 8 months and full hair growth within 9 to 12 months.
Most patients can be satisfied with one or two procedures to treat a specific area of hair loss. Of course, levels of satisfaction vary and additional procedures are always an option. Additional procedures may be required if further hair loss occurs. Often patients are encouraged to begin maintenance programs to prevent or delay future hair loss and the need for additional procedures.
