Welcome to hairlossconsult.com! Hair Loss and Hair Transplants Explained by Hair Restoration Doctors
A Hair Transplant is a safe and effective treatment against hair loss. Hair transplantation has come a long way over the last 10-15 years.
A good transplant can provide a full look while being virtually undetectable to the human eye. For some, surgical hair restoration can be even more effective when combined with medical hair restoration. For others a hair transplant is not yet necessary or simply unnecessary. We understand that most hair loss suffers do a lot of research on their own, but it is extremely important to discuss all hair loss treatment options with a Hair Restoration Physician before undergoing any type of treatment plan.

Questions and concerns you may have at this point

- Will I ever get another girlfriend or boyfriend?
- I’m so young, if I started losing my hair when I was older I wouldn’t care.

- I saw a guy with an older transplant that looked horrible, will people know if I get one?
- I no longer go out as much and I stress when I have to go to a formal function such as a wedding or a nice dinner.
- I don’t go to places that are not “Hat” friendly.

- How can I perform at my job like this?
- I hate when people sit in back of me. Are they looking at my hair?
- I don’t want to go to the doctors office because I might run into someone I know.
Many people feel at least a few of the above when they start to notice their hair loss, for others hair loss has a milder affect. When hair loss starts to control your life it’s time to do something about it. If thinning hair doesn’t bother you that much or you can just shave your head and go on with your life then god bless you…you probably shouldn’t be here.
Since I was the worst case scenario and had every question and concern above it never surprises me when patients comes in and explain the extreme lengths that they go to on a daily basis in order to disguise their hair loss. I have even treated people who went as far as tattooing hair to their bald scalp. While some of my patients are comfortable talking about their hair loss and their hair transplant procedure and have even appeared on television with me or have let me use their photographs and contact information to educate new patients, others shutter at the thought of anybody finding out their big secret. I would have shuttered. Where ever you fall on the psychological hair loss spectrum you are certainly not alone.

Hair Transplant
A hair transplant is a minor surgical procedure where healthy areas of skin, hair, and their roots are transplanted from the sides or back of the head (the donor area) to bald or balding areas of the scalp of the same person (the recipient area). After the hair transplant the hair will continue to grow permanently because it is taken from an area where the hair roots were never programmed to fall out. The hair transplant graft always retains the same characteristics as it did prior to the transplant procedure. It will even turn gray as you age.
Hair Loss
Most hair loss is normal and part of each person’s individual genetic makeup. The following information was compiled to help you better understand your hair loss and options for treatment. What is considered Normal Hair Loss? We lose hair everyday. Hair grows for a period of time, usually for 2 to 6 years, and then the follicles shed the hair and go into a resting stage for approximately 3 months, then a new hair growth cycle begins. It is normal to lose between 50 to 150 hairs per day from normal hair shedding. Pattern Hair Loss Androgenetic alopecia is the scientific name for the genetic predisposition in both men and women for pattern baldness. Pattern hair loss in men is often referred to as male pattern baldness (MPB). Androgenetic alopecia is the cause of over 95% of all pattern hair loss, including baldness in men and thinning hair in women. Pattern hair loss occurs in somewhat predictable stages, and is relentlessly progressive. Usually the earlier in life pattern hair loss begins the more advanced the hair loss pattern will ultimately become. Studies have shown that pattern loss is increasingly evident and advanced as people age.
